ABOUT STAGES IN THE ARTS
Stages In The Arts is the nonprofit youth programming arm of BSP, and includes Youth Theater, Dance and other classes and workshops for youth such as art classes, summer camps and music lessons. The Woodstock Youth Theater has made its home at BSP for the last nine years.

Woodstock Youth Theater was founded by Beth Lipton more than twenty-seven years ago, and continues to be one of the best venues for exciting live theater for children in the area. It serves youth ages six to twenty-four and provides instruction in theater arts, staging, dance and song.

In 2002, the Woodstock Youth Theater came under the umbrella of Backstage Productions, making its home at 323 Wall Street in Kingston, New York. To show the breadth of our geographic draw, our name was changed to Stages In The Arts. SAI’s Executive Director, Teri Rossin, is the owner of BSP and a passionate and generous supporter of the programming, including many scholarships annually.  BSP offers so much -  the space also includes the magnificent dance studio and great rehearsal space as well as the huge theater for performances.

Our mission is to give young people an appreciation of the art of theater. The students gain poise, grace and fluency on stage, and they gain the skills and self confidence to perform in front of an audience. By being a part of a theater troupe, young actors learn team building – how to be productve meembers of a group. They learn that there are no small parts. It takes everyone to have a fine performance.

Productions, up to six per year, have included  Oklahoma, Equus, Midsummer Night’s Dream, Rocky Horror Picture Show,  and The Lion King.

Our Spring 2010 production, Seussical the Musical, combined the talents of all ages from eight to eighteen on a magical set of Whoville.
