Stages in the Arts @BSP is once again offering their acclaimed Summer Arts Intensive, a day camp offering Theatre Arts, Dance, Music and Visual Arts to kids ages 6 – 18.
The camp is staffed with great instructors who are experienced, enthusiastic and ready to help kids find and nurture their artistic voices in a respectful, collaborative environment. Kids of all levels can participate.
The Theatre Arts program will cover topics such as Acting for Stage, Acting for Screen, Directing, Making Music Videos, Young Kids Theatre Troupe, Lighting Design and Audio Engineering. The Dance program will offer Ballet, Hip Hop, Jazz, Modern, Choreography and a Lady Gaga Dance Troupe. The Visual Arts program offers a Studio Art class where campers can learn all about art, work on fun projects or work independently on their own projects. The Music program will offer group instrument lessons, World Music, jam sessions and drum circles. Please see the full curriculum below and choose up to 8 areas of interest when you register!
Summer Arts Intensive runs 9AM – 3PM, Monday – Friday, from July 5th to August 26th, in two-week sessions. There is a camp-wide performance on Sunday, August 28th for any campers who have participated this summer. Rehearsal will be Saturday, August 27th.

Theater Arts Program
BSP’s Theater Arts program offers a diverse selection of classes like the Young Kids Theatre Troupe, Music Video, Acting for Stage, Acting for Screen, Musical Training, and opportunites to hone performance. BSP’s Theater Arts program stresses a respectful, collaborative, non-competitive environment where kids can thrive and further their passions.
Young Kids Theatre Troupe
A group especially for the younger set! Kids 8 – 10 will enjoy this 2-week program geared to introduce them to the stage, learning the basics of acting, and all in a fun setting!
Acting for Stage
This class explores and furthers each student’s level of acting knowledge and skill.
Music Video
Calling all Gleeks! In this course we will be making music videos of our own from start to finish: plan it, perform it, edit, and broadcast your voice. Singers, drummers, bassists, guitarists, you name it! Bring your original music, or your favorite songs. Everyone will have the chance to perform and/or film, depending on interest. No technical skills required, only the ambition to create. Over a two-week period, we will storyboard, rehearse, shoot, and edit a number of music video projects. In this course we will also examine the history and development of the music video as a genre. Storyboarding, rehearsing, shooting and editing will all be covered, and a final exhibition will feature a screening of the videos.
Screen Scenes: Acting and Directing for Motion Pictures
In this class we will explore the differences between stage and screen acting while working to develop your skills as a performer. Students will work on solo and ensemble scene work and gain experience in the exciting world of film directing! We will use scenes and monologues from contemporary film, and record all performances to culminate in a final evening screening event. Find out what it takes to become a movie actor/director! No experience necessary.
Vocal Music Production
Learn everything about musical stage performance for theatre.
Set Design
Learn how to make creative and interesting sets for the summer camp productions.
Audio Visual Program
Sound Installation Art
This class will create an audio installation within the building.
Lighting Design
Learn Theatrical Lighting Design! Students practice basic industry standards while gaining insight of the artistic conception of story telling. Explore lighting design using visual research and live interactive seminars in a small theatrical laboratory setting. Learn about lighting, fixtures, hanging lights, power needs, controlling your lights from a light board, and more. Light Lab and Group assignments. Students will help with the stage and screen performances and rehearsals taking place during their class.
Audio Engineering
Learning basic setup of audio equipment for live shows, basic sound reinforcement, recording live shows, use of ustream for broadcasting, basic audio editing using audacity (free audio editing software for PC and Mac)
Also field recording to create their own composition. Field recording equipment can be from audio recorders on smart phones to zoom H2 or even using basic note taking recording devices as long as the audio file can be transferred to a computer.
Equipment: whatever audio equipment you have. if no computers are available then a projector so they can see how audacity works and can do their own editing at home.
for ustream we will need a computer and video camera with streaming capabilities. any level
Dance Program
BSP is offering a wide variety of dance classes for the summer program. Take your favorite or learn a new one! All classes are held upstairs in the dance studio on a professional grade dance floor.
Classes offered in Ballet, Modern Dance, Jazz, Hip Hop and Choreography.
Lady Gaga Choreography
Learn signature Lady Gaga dance moves! This class breaks down the cool dances into learnable steps and then puts it all together into a fresh dance that campers will then perform.
Visual Arts
Studio Art
The visual arts program at BSP is a combination of a studio class and informational sessions. The campers have options: a still life, portrait work, photographs, collage materials, drawing and painting materials and more. Line, value, color, shape, weight, proportion, texture, form, design, and balance are all introduced and explored as well as looking as examples of other artists work. Students are encouraged to work on their own projects as their passions dictate, or they can take part in the project of the day.

Are you working on an instrument? Bring it along and receive lessons from cream of the crop instructors! Guitar, bass, drums, wind, wood, brass, vocals, piano & more!
Music Theory
Want to dig deeper into what music is really about? This Music Theory course explores sound, harmony, rhythm, chords, scales & more.
Songwriting & Lyrics
Learn how to take your ideas and craft them into a song. Learn about the writing process, how to express yourself using rhythm, melody, harmony, verses, choruses, and how to write a great bridge. Bring your projects or get inspired in the class. All Levels.
