Youth Theatre Signups

Stages In the Arts, our youth theater program also known as Woodstock Youth Theatre, is entering its tenth year at BSP, and we couldn’t be more thrilled to host another amazing season filled with wonderful experiences learning, growing and creating for the region’s youth.

The SIA Youth Theater is offering three sessions, open to ages 6 – 22. The program runs from 10/3 until 12/2 with registration through 10/26. Tech week and performances through 12/16.

Bohemian Steampunk Cabaret at BSP in Kingston November 19th

A Vaudevillian, Gypsy, Steampunk, Pixie Carnivale is coming to town. Internationally touring band Frenchy and the Punk along with The Bleeding Hearts Belly Dance troupe and sideshow performers Honor Amongst Thieves will invade BSP performance space in Kingston, NY on Saturday November 19th.

Frenchy and the Punk (formerly The Gypsy Nomads) is a Euro-American duo based right here in the Hudson Valley who have been taking their high energy, genre busting, jaw dropping show on the road for the past six years. French born singer Samantha Stephenson, who Yahoo Music Blog listed as one of “25 Women To Watch In Music,” is a sultry, powerful mix of Siouxsie Sioux, Edith Piaf and Chrissy Hynde. American born musical collaborator and punk rock veteran and guitarist and live guitar looping extraordinaire, Scott Helland, listed in the Encylopedia of Punk, rounds out this unique duo. Their show is a rousing mix of French chanson, spirited danceable tunes and Taiko-esque drumming.

The show will open with the sassy Hudson Valley based tribal fusion belly dance troupe, The Bleeding Hearts; a troupe of two whose influences capture vintage style and vaudevillian theatre based in rock, electronica and gypsy roots. Honor Amongst Thieves from NYC will also perform their astounding, amusing and confounding sideshow as they endeavor such feats as sword swallowing and mental floss.

These performers are a part of the growing steampunk and cabaret community that is sweeping the country and across the world. Come see for yourselves, right here in the Hudson Valley, what the fuss is all about. Costumes are encouraged but not required and get you a discount at the door.

Woodstock Film Festival’s Maverick Awards

What a fantastic night! Ellen Barkin, Timothy Hutton, Vincent D’Onofrio, Tony Kaye, Mark Ruffalo with Brendan Small emceeing – it was a spectacular event that we are always so proud to host. The theater was transformed into an elegant wooded scene complete with mock-firefiles in jars hanging from a forest of evergreens. A highlight of the evening was Tony Kaye’s’ acceptance speech for the Honorary Maverick award, when he strapped on a guitar and sang a song in leiu of a speech.
